HOST' NGO

Redistribution of resources PDF Print E-mail

One of the aims is that the NGOs, for example, dedicate part of their project resource budget to activities more associated with sustainable development.

The use of HOST could allow for significant cost savings and other advantages:
concerning:

- international human resources, through the reduction of turnover of personnel and lower costs for the protection of expatriated staff
- reduced payroll budget
- concerning management of project start-ups, as certain activities can be performed remotely via the HOST platform
- concerning fund raising, as there would be need for less grants. NGOs could finance their projects partially or wholly through HOST partners
- concerning communication costs, thanks to the HOST platform which serves to relay project information
- concerning training costs through the use of skilled personnel provided by HOST
- concerning office costs, with computer hardware, software, licenses, internet and telephone provided by companies to HOST volunteers

Through the redeployment of money saved through the above-mentioned points, ONGs could, for example:
- recruit more local staff
- make long-term investment in local human potential
- invest in local training
- enhance skills of staff
- be assured of fully-operational and efficient staff
- consolidate staff skills
- promote local responsibilities thereby reducing the international/local hierarchy divide
- reduce salary gaps
- ensure more complete volunteer implication, independent of individual interests
- ensure longer project support
- invest in a sustainable development strategy

It is through points such as these that HOST hopes to answer to NGO requirements.

- On needs in communication thanks to the platform which will spread the information about the projects.

- On the training by the use of existing qualified human resources.

- On the material as computers, softwares, licenses, Internet, telephone, allowed by volunteers' companies working with HOST'.

- …

Through the redistribution of the costs on the not used resources, NGO could for example:

- Recruit more local staff.

- Surround on the local human potential in a long-lasting way.

- Invest in the training of the local resources.

- Make co-workers' skills rise.

- Count on the operational and effective staff.

- Capitalise into know-how.

- Reduce the hierarchical depreciation (international / local) by facilitating the direct empowerment.

- Reduce the gap between salaries.

- Insure a higher volunteers' implication.

- Insure a better durability of projects.

- Invest in a sustainable development strategy.

- …

By focusing on these points HOST' hopes answering certain NGOs' needs.
